Meet the Artist Series – Creating Community

I love art.  Arty art art.  Art inspires us to look within and to look outside our everyday lives.  Art makes us feel, art teaches us about who we are individually and weaves together the tapestry of the human experience.  I believe art should be for everyone and that we should all feel free to release our inner artist.  Also, I like hanging out and having a glass of wine with a new friend and learning about what art you’re into.  This year I’m so excited to bring these things together in Altus, OK.

Throughout the year, Gilded Prairie will be hosting an informal series called “meet the artist” to bring together our community over art and celebrate military affiliated and civilian artists in southwest Oklahoma.  Our artists will give us a short talk about how they became artists, their process of creating art, and what inspires them.  We’ll exhibit their art throughout the studio and you can get to know the artist one-on-one.  We’ll have beverages and tasty treats to enjoy while we all have a lovely night out.

So plan your next date night, girls/guys night out, or just come to meet some super rad folks with our first event featuring Mande Gaffney of Mande Calhoun Art on Friday, February 8.

If you are an artist (those with day jobs too!) in southwest Oklahoma or are stationed at Altus Air Force Base and would like to learn more about being a featured artist, email me at

Cheers to our community!
