Monochrome Monday: October 12, 2015

This weekend I had the absolute privilege to meet a brand new person.  And this was not just any person, but the first daughter of my high school bestie.  We’ve seen each other through a lot in more than 20 years of friendship, and she means the world to me.  And then she had children, and I become all mushy kneed just looking at them.

Meet baby K.

These photos were taken in the evening, indoors, which can be a real challenge for light.  The first thing to do in these situations is increase your ISO (making your sensor able to utilize low light). However, when you really crank it up, you’ll notice noise in your image, and sometimes the colors get weird.  My favorite trick, and I’m sure this will surprise none of you, is to shoot in black and white at these high ISOs.  Your eye just doesn’t see the noise as much, and color, well, heck, who cares! 😉

But enough about cameras, look at this beauty!
